Undergraduate and Graduate Student Internships

In previous years, SNPRC has provided educational and training opportunities for a limited number of students during an 8-10 week summer session. Both undergraduate and graduate (Ph.D. and veterinary) students at accredited academic institutions have participated and the program has produced some outstanding research opportunities for budding scientists. Unfortunately, this year due to financial constraints, SNPRC will not be able to offer the Summer Intern program. We are hopeful that in 2013 we will again be able to reinstate the program.

Foreign Veterinarian Training Program

The Southwest National Primate Research Center (SNPRC) provides laboratory animal medicine training opportunities for up to two foreign veterinarians each year. This program is twelve weeks (3 months) in duration and includes training in the areas of clinical nonhuman primate medicine and surgery, pathology, behavioral management, laboratory animal administration and animal research. Veterinarians from foreign research institutions must provide their own funding. Preference will be given to veterinarians from research facilities that are currently engaged in collaborative research with the Southwest National Primate Research Center.

All application materials must be received no later than six months before the anticipated date for the training.

Student Volunteer Program

The Southwest National Primate Research Center (SNPRC) provides educational volunteer opportunities for a limited number of students throughout the year. The student must be at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled in school. The SNPRC will match student volunteers with appropriate mentors. The availability of a mentor is not guaranteed.

Applications are accepted throughout the year.
