Texas Biomedical Research Institute’s Vision for the Future
Combating a Global and Personal Threat
A new infectious disease has emerged every year on average for the past 30 years.
Ebola and Zika were once simply foreign sounding words. Today, these words are recognized around the world as the names of two very frightening infections. Similarly, we are continually warned about the risk of infection from Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and sepsis when entering a healthcare setting (including those due to “superbugs”). Tuberculosis, likewise, is an ancient scourge, yet outbreaks occur annually in the United States today.
Infection is the only disease that affects every person on the planet at some point.
To you, your family, your neighbors, and communities across the world, infectious diseases are very real threats. Each day, countless lives are impacted by infections and threatening pathogens that surround us. Our ever-growing, interconnected world speaks, not only to our global networks, but to a world we have only begun to understand…that of the microbes that live within and around us ranging from the exotic to the ordinary, from Ebola to influenza.
At Texas Biomed, our singular focus is protecting you, your family and our global community from the risks of infection.
We imagine a world free from the fear of infectious disease – and we work every day to make that hope a reality. By conducting research that leads to breakthrough discoveries and sharing what we learn, we are leading the fight to reduce unnecessary anxiety, suffering and death due to infection. Our hope is your hope: a healthier world free from the reality of infectious disease.
