Research Focus

Dr. Shridhar is a veterinary microbiologist with specialized training and expertise in bacteriology. She has a strong background in developing and validating diagnostic methods for the detection, characterization, and quantification of pathogens. She provides diagnostic microbiology support to the nonhuman primate colonies at SNPRC, which involves the development and validation of culture-based and molecular diagnostic methods to detect and characterize various pathogens associated with clinical illness in NHPs. Her lab currently provides real-time PCR-based diagnostic assays and antibiotic sensitivity assays targeting pathogens causing gastrointestinal and respiratory illness in clinical samples of nonhuman primate colonies. She provides consultation on colony health and contributes to research projects and grant applications. She has over 10 years of experience as a veterinarian and as a microbiologist. Her interests include diagnostic microbiology, enteric pathogens, antimicrobial resistance, and whole genome sequencing.
